Had a Merry Christmas- spent some good time with the family over Christmas Eve and Christmas- back to work tomorrow. First time without my youngest brother, Peanut, but first time in a couple of years with my oldest brother, Anson. Also spent some time with my Aunt Becca & family. My Aunt Becca recently moved from Spain (she was the one I visited in April). She is my Mom's youngest sister (my mom is the oldest sister and 2nd oldest child). We also visited with my Grandma, who was surprisingly a lot more coherent, happy and alert.
What did Larissa get for Christmas? Some girly items (um, Mario, what are you trying to tell me :P). I got a Coach purse and wallet- yea, I know he thought I bought cheap purses, which, hey I do. Why? Cause I need money to spend on important things like, tires, electronics, and alcohol :P. He also wasn't too into my Docker Men's tri-fold wallet :P. The purse and wallet? Nothing I would EVER spend that kind of money on, BUT? I totally like it- very cute, definitely showed good taste in picking it out. I also got a snowboard jacket, well cover (toss on another jacket to ensure staying dry :)), some jewelry and clothing. My mom, thought that when you enlarge up top you increase your chest diameter- no, I am still a medium! She has a few tops to return :P.
Back to work tomorrow, short week. I have some homework to do and PACKING!!!
I am now in contract with my soon to be
new home . I should be getting the keys around January 26th. OH, OH, OH, how broke I will be!!! But, happy? Mhm, I'd be that too :). You won't see me out for awhile...
I should be handing my keys for my condo over the first week of Feb. This gives me a little time to re-texture the walls in the house, paint and replace carpet in the house.
So...bed I go so I can pack once I get out of work tomorrow....
Condo is in contract!! WOO!! I plan to make an offer on a
house by the end of the week. I'm excited, no not because I'll be BROKE, but because I will no longer be in the ghetto. No longer share walls- ooh, ooh, my OWN walls :). No longer dealing with neighbors that bang their bodies around ALL day long. No longer dealing with ghetto people speeding their cars over the speed bumps in my complex. No longer dealing with ghetto wanna-be gangsters smoking and drinking till wee hours of the morning :). I am praying this all goes through :).
I just completed an "Ethics in Management" class. Total common sense, but, well, if you were raised right I guess. I am now in "Environmental Ethics". What is this about? Understanding the effects today's ethical issues have on the environment- global warming, increased fisheries, increased immunity to antibodies... Interesting? Of course. Important? Of course. Necessary for studies? Um, probably not...
Soon to be Christmas, WOo! Visiting with family and TIME off :). I'm all confused at work right now. I don't think I am doing well with balancing my responsibilities at work. I need to figure this out.
Bed
Karma.
I never experienced anything which I would have associated with karma until today. Short story cause I don't feel like blabbing. I broke a girl's nose yesterday and had my car broken into today. PDA/GPS and purse with checkbooks were stolen. Passenger window and mirror were broken.
Karma.
I have had 7 people look at my place since I dropped the price. I think 1 person actually looked twice (so 6 people). I haven't received much feedback as of yet nor an offer. I will hope one comes through soon.
I picked up my little girlfriend's on Friday. I watched their basketball games. Funny watching them, they both don't really know how to play. Throwing up their hands to block a ball that is no where near them and they have no one behind them, twiddling their hair, skipping across the basketball court, passing to air. It was fun, I'm glad I saw them. Now I know what we have to learn.
Saw "Over The Hedge" and "Unaccompanied Minors" while they were here. Both good movies, "Over The Hedge" is cute and funny, we watched it twice since Apollonia wanted to watch it again the next morning.
Went to Brittania Arms on Saturday night, hung out with Tiff and Tris and enjoyed some drinks and
Stung.
Sunday I went with my friend Doug to the 49'er Greenbay game. 49'ers made some horrible plays and lost. Fortunately it did not rain- I do not enjoy sitting in the cold rain watching football.
I have an insanely busy week ahead of me, I need sleep.
Went to 49'ers game
Yep, house still on market- just dropped the price to $7k, had 2 people look at it this weekend; yanno, the normal first couple of folks that check out the place after a new listing or price change...
Friday I went to a 20 yr anniversary company (one of my vendor's)/customer apprectiation meeting. I had a really fun time. The company's revenue was 100 million in 2006, made from 160 employees. I haven't yet done research, but really curious how these figures measure up to other 20 yr old tech companies. Since this was a special event,
Ashwin Rangan, CIO of Walmart, spoke about on how to utilize the trends to attract and retain the public. Ashwin is a very mellow, very respectable, intelligent man. Ashwin's speech was very knowledgable and capturing. I had the fortunate experience of sitting at the table with the CEO of Sigmanet, Sigmanet's executive's coach, Ashwin, and others from
HP and
Shea Properties.
Unfortunately I didn't get to talk to Ashwin as much as I had hoped for. I did get to talk closely with the the executive's coach as well as the CEO's wife. This experience was very interesting! To sit at the table with the CEO of a rapidly growing company, the CIO of a huge corporation that has changed America, and many other IT colleagues, was a very cool experience.
Cisco Systems received an award from Sigmanet- one of the top 10 purchasers for 2006. It was pretty cool to receive since I was the only Cisco employee there (majority of business is from other groups in Cisco). I will place the nice crystal award on my desk.
I spent Saturday night at a Christmas party that included a gift exchange- a game of greed, doubles and heat. It was a ravishing event! My friend, Ellen (who accompanied me) requested we do this game with some of our other friends- it is now on the agenda.
Sunday I spent the day watching football (ha- well it is football season), oil changing on car and vacuuming/cleaning inside of car (it was filthy). I just finished giving Mario a mock interview for his 3rd interview for Clovis (well 2nd + written). He is excited, but nervous. I am really excited for him!
And now- on with the week....
